Following on from our first overseas SHEDtalk we have now enjoyed another, this time from Australia. Brisbane, capital of Queensland to be precise. Les Stanley joined us to talk about his life and to tell us about his book “My Brother’s Bicycle: Enfield to Athens on a Tandem which recounts not just the trip mentioned in the title but various travels and travails around the world.
Les has led a varied life working for British Airways for a while living in several different countries including France, Germany, Thailand and Israel where he told us about his experiences on a Turkey farm!
His book is well worth a read – as one reviewer put it “Les’s style of writing is conversational and very amusing and he manages to put you in his shoes and gives you the opportunity to pedal along in his wake both on his original journey from the seventies and his more recent attempts to recreate the trip.”
His book is available in a print or electronic format from Amazon and all good bookshops and some crummy ones too. You can also sign up to his newsletter here.
We’re on the lookout for new guest speakers so, if you have a topic you’d like to share (and think would be interesting to our Shedders) then please feel free to get in touch – Terry: terry@wthassociates.com 07905 759 003 .
We hold our SHEDtalks on Monday’s at 1pm (UK time) via Zoom.
